Logitech x DesignMorphine Design Challenge
Feb 21-26, 2023
One of the three winning concepts.
The challenge was to use AI tools to brainstorm and computational design to model our ideas in 3D for structures that imply or promote comfort, lightness and/or individuality, using existing Logitech mice as base model.
I chose to modify the MX Vertical, the mouse that I had been using for years.
Inspired by my personal experience with the mouse and my big hand, I imagined a mouse tailor service, like tailoring a tuxedo or a dress but for one’s hand. The now parametric vertical mouse can be specifically designed for different palm size with different tilt angle.
Using AI image generators like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion, patterns are generated to become the texture of the grip, along with color customization and signature engravings to make the tailor-made mouse truly one of its kind.
I also imagine a modular internal system that is universal no matter the housing of the mice, where one can select between micro-switch modules of different tactility and silent options. The modular design also makes it easy to repair after the switches or battery eventually dies.
